Ident

This is an ident me and my partner Dilwar came up with.

Our production company is called Rockafella. 

We chose to use the lighting to make it strike the audience. 

Character,roles and props

Me and my partner Dilwar came up with the following character:


Sneaks - This is the main character of the film, played by Ezekiel, he will be wearing a a coat, jeans and a cap

Zimmer - He is a drug lord in the film, played by Gurmit, he will be wearing a shirt and suit

Bodyguard - He will be Zimmer's bodyguard in the film, he will also be wearing a a shirt and suit

Driver  - He will be the driver of a drive by in the film, played be Rayhan, he will be wearing jeans and a top.

Shooter - He will be the shooter in the drive by in the film played by Dilwar, he will have his face covered

Young Sneaks - During the flash back he will be the character of Sneaks as a young child played by Asher, he will be wearing a school uniform, hat and coat.

Equipment & Setting

Me and my partner Dilwar discussed what equipment will we use to make our film. We will use the following:
high definition video camera, I will use a high definition camera so I can get a good quality film with good detail. I will also need a tripod for professional steady recording and apple mac to edit my footage on.


We then talked about what Mis-en-scene would be we came up with the following:
It would be set in a house inside a room with expensive things and a table, we chose this beaucse when we researched films the same genre as ours we saw the setting ws usaully in a rich looking room, E.g Godfather opening scence. Also we wanted it to look offical so our charcters would be dressed smartly however our main character was dressed differently this was beaucse the film was aimed aimed at middle class people so they could relate to the character.

Location

Me and my partner Dilwar looked at good locations where we could shoot our film also we had to look at things like lightening, we wanted it to look like an expensive place. Dilwar's house was perfect location for this because there was good lighting and also he had a nice expensive looking room with leather sofa. Also we had to film at drive by shooting his road was very quiet this would be perfect because we wouldn't have many disruptions.

Lighting

Me and my team member Dilwar talked about the type of lighting we would have in the opening sequence of our film. We decided :
Our first shot we will use the outside lighting which will be slightly dark, so it will set the mood of the film.
Our second shot will be inside a house, this shot will be brightly lit so every detail can be seen.
Our thrid shot will be outside again this will be using the outisde lighting also around 4pm where it starts to get dark but not to dark becasue we need to record every detail.

Music

I will be using music in the film. The type of music I will be using is Hip Hop/ gangster rap music. The reason for this choice of music is because my target audience is young people who listen to rap music. Also from my film research I found the films which were closely related to mine used urban, Hip Hop and rap music throughout.  

Script

EXT. OUTSIDE ZIMMER’S HOUSE. NIGHT

SNEAKS knocks on the door.

                                             SNEAKS

                                         Open up man!

INT. ZIMMER HOUSE. NIGHT

BODY GUARD1 comes to the door and opens it

                                              BODY GUARD 1

                                        Who you come to see?

EXT.OUTSIDE ZIMMERS HOUSE. NIGHT.

                                                     SNEAKS

                                Zimmer, tell him it’s me SNEAKS 

INT. ZIMMER HOUSE. NIGHT

                                             BODY GUARD  1

                                    OH! Sorry sir please come in

  

SNEAKS looks back and looks left and right before stepping inside, he pushes past the body guard

                                                            SNEAKS

                                   Yeahh that’s what I thought !

INT. ZIMMER HOUSE. NIGHT

SNEAKS walks into a dark room

                                                ZIMMER

                                  AHH SNEAKS  take a seat

SNEAKS shakes ZIMMERS hand and sits opposite him on a table

                                                 SNEAKS

                                           Whats going on ?

     

ZIMMER looks at SNEAKS in the eyes

                                     

                                             ZIMMER

                                           You got it ?

SNEAKS reaches in his inside pocket of his coat and pulls out a brown parcel and puts it out on the table

ZIMMER slightly opens the packet and takes a sniff of it

                                                  

                                                          ZIMMER

           That’s some good stuff right here ! Oi Hand me that bag.

ZIMMER hands the bag over to SNEAKS, Who then shakes hands and leaves.

SNEAKS starts to walk down the road towards his car.

EXT.OUT ON THE ROAD.NIGHT

A car with 3 men inside is driving past, one of the men notice SNEAKS

                                   

                                                          Driver

                                Yo ain’t that him … SNEAKS ?

The driver and the other man at the back quickly look out of the window

                                                 

                                                  Shooter

                               That’s him!  That’s him!

The car sharply brakes and a gun being cocked back is herd

SNEAKS hears the car and turns round

                                    BANG BANG !

SNEAKS gets shot and drops to the ground

FLASHBACK

SNEAKS is out of school and goes up too a smartly dressed man and ask for money.

Step outline/ Slugline

This is step outline I briefly wrote about what happens in each scene what happened in the previous scene, what characters are in the scene and also what the audience is meant to understand about the scene.

Point of scene	The audience is meant to understand that Sneaks has come to see someone, they will not know what for but they will know it’s for something private.
Scene description	Sneaks knocks on the door a close up shot of his fist is taken, the body guard comes to open the door he tells him it’s Sneaks and the body guard lets him in. A long shot of Sneaks is taken before he steps into house.

End Point of  Last Scene	Sneaks knock’s on the door and a bodyguard opens the door.

Scene description	Sneaks walk’s into the room where Zimmer is sitting on a table he shakes hands and is told to take a seat.

Point of scene	The audience is meant to understand a drug deal is taking place, and Sneaks is a drug dealer and Zimmer is a big man with money buying the drugs off him.
Scene description	Sneeks is sitting at the table with Zimmer, Zimmer asks if he has the parcel, Sneeks pulls it out and puts it on the table. Zimmer opens it and checks it out and hands over a bag full of money. The shots used will be an over the shoulder shot from sneaks looking at Zimmer when he talks, a close of the parcel and Zimmer’s face are used.

End Point of  Last Scene	A drug deal has taken place, Sneaks has given a parcel of coke to Zimmer and has left the house.

Scene description	Sneaks is walking down the road to where he parked his car. A long shot is used to show his surroundings.

Scene description	Sneaks is walking down when a car is driving past and one of the men in the car spots him. He tells the other men who then also recognise him. The car brakes. A point of view shot is used on one of the men in the car looking at sneaks.

Nine Frames

This is the 9 frames of my film, the first frame is of my Ident with the sound of lighting, the next frame is of a hand knocking the door, there is a close up of the mains characters face. The next frame is of him giving a parcel of coke to someone's house, the next frame is of the main character walking out the house, the next frame is of a black car pulling up besides him and a gun comes out, he is shot dead.A flashback then happens which goes back to his younger days.

Elevator Pitch

This is my partner Dilwar talking about out Elevator pitch which we both wrote down together, the purpose of this was to put our film idea through by explaining what the film was about and so we could get finance to produce our hit film.

I am producing a gangster film, the film itself ill be set in New York I think it will appeal to the following people:

Social Economics: Lower and Middle class

Jobs: Minimum wage jobs or no job at all

Education: Low level of education left after school or college

Interests: Computer games sports chilling with friends 

Favorite films: Get Rich or Die Trying, Notorious, Menace II Society, Boyz N the Hood, Scarface

Favourite music genre: Rap and Hip Hop 

My Films Age Rating

I decided that my films would be rated a 15, because my film will contain drugs,  strong language violence. My film would be unsuitable for children under 15 to watch. My film wouldn't be a 12A or 12 because it contains drugs and a lot of strong language at 12 there can only be a bit of bad language. My film won't be needing a 18 the reason for that is there is no nudity and sex in this film so the perfect age rating for my film would be 15.

Film Classification 

The U symbol stands for Universal, it is suitable for audiences aged four and over.

The PG symbol stands for parental guidance . These films are suitable for general viewing, some scenes may be unsuitable for young children. A PG should not disturb children aged 8 or over. 

The 12 symbol means that audiences 12 and over can watch the film. The A in the 12A stands for accompanied and advisory people under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. 











The 15 symbol means that audiences 15 and over can watch the film.The main issues with 15's are strong language, portrayals of sexual activity, strong verbal references to sex, sexual nudity, discriminatory language or behaviour and drug taking .

This is the 20th Centry Fox ident this is another big production company. The ident has bold writing on it saying 20th century fox it has dramatic music playing in the background which starts at the begining 1 second and fades out just before the end of the ident at 21 seconds. The ident has lights on it which makes you think of films when your in the spotlight.


The things I like about this ident is its very big and bold it has the gold colour which makes it look important I like the lighting effect used and the music used.

I started to research film idents to see what different ones look like and whats good or bad about them. I did this so I could get an idea of how I wanted my ident to look.


This is the famous Warner Brothers Ident, It starts off with some houses this could to show to produce films for families. It then spins and turns into a big logo which says WB which stands for Warner bros
There is music playing in the background of the ident which starts off at 2 seconds and then at 5 seconds it becomes louder and more dramatic then fades out at the end of the ident at 12 seconds.


I like this ident I like how it starts off as some buildings/houses and then transforms into a big shield which holds the two letters off the logo. I also like the gold colour used it makes the actual logo seem very big bold and important and also I like how its in the clouds which also makes it look like a big production company and better than the rest.

I checked out this opening sequence it was really interesting I knew what genre the film was from the moment it started this was due to the colours used the sequence was colourless which made it look like a horror. there was a lot of good use of shots used there was close ups of the gun, writing on a page. There was a good use of angles used in the clip. The sound was matched great with the pace and genre of the clip. The continuity editing was also good.

I started to look at some AS media course work to get ideas for my own opening sequence.
This opening sequence was good, I liked the use of sound used it mathchthe pace which the girl was running,it had good continuity editing and it flowed well. There were many different camera angles and shots, some of the shots were edited to make the audience jump which made it look like a professional opening sequence. The camera lighting was good and clear, dark lighting was used beaucse it was a horror opeing sequence. The sequence had good use of mis-en-scene - a graveyard which is a great place tostart a horroe film beaucse it shows the audience what genre the film is. They used Sony Pictures ident which is a well-known film company. They included names of characters,writer's and directors. I think that this sequence could be improved by making their own ident instead of using an existing company; also they could use a bettwr quality camera to get that extra detail to give it that real professional look. From this clip I will make sure I have good sound in the background which suits my films genre, good lighting,I will make sure my cliphas a variety of camera shots and choose a good place to shoot my sequence wich shows what genre my film is to make the opening sequence intresting and professional. I wil use a good quality camera and make my own ident.

What makes a good blog

I had looked and analysed some blogs, The first blog which i looked at was Kim Bates & Tom Allen the blog was level 2 (D grade).The blog good points were that it explained all then camera shots in detail and gave images as examples. They explained there prelimonary task, what it was about, the 180 degreerule they had to use when filming and the shot reverse shot they also included their  preliminary video.

I then look at a Level 3 blog by Joe this blog was better than the first blog beaucse they included more video links which they had researched they had included thier ideas when they were planning. E.g mind maps. They lnluded videos links on how to edit and cut certain shots.I think this blog got a higher grade beaucse they had done alot of planning before making their prelimary and final film which shows they were organised also they did alot of research on videos,cuts,editing. They included a lot of diagrams, photos, software they used and an evaluation
